  13. A.   Who Needs This WinFax PRO 3.0 Maintenance Release
  14. ------------------------------------------------------
  15. The enclosed patch updates WinFax PRO 3.0 to provide the following:
  16.  
  17. -    Memory Management - improved memory handling while viewing and
  18.      printing received faxes
  19. -    Optical Character Recognition (OCR) - improved recognition and
  20.      spell checking of international characters.
  21.  
  22. Note:     Only users running the April 21, 1993 release of WinFax
  23.           PRO should run this patch. See the About screen in WinFax
  24.           PRO for the program release date.
  25.  
  26.           If you have a version of WinFax PRO 3.0 with a release
  27.           date before April 21, 1993, you must download WFX304.ZIP
  28.           and use it to update WinFax PRO before using WFX306.ZIP.
  29.           When you update WinFax PRO using WFX304.ZIP, the program
  30.           release date changes to April 21, 1993.

  37. The following description assumes you have successfully downloaded
  38. the WinFax PRO 3.0 maintenance release patch file (WFX306.ZIP), and
  39. successfully extracted the following files using the PKUNZIP
  40. utility:
  41.  
  42.      README.PCH (this document)
  43.      PATCH.EXE (executable program to run the patch)
  44.      WINFAX.RTP (contains file difference information for patching)
  45.      WINFAX.RTD (description of changes and files affected) 
  46.  
  47. Do the following steps to update WinFax PRO 3.0.
  48.  
  49. 1.   Copy PATCH.EXE and WINFAX.RTP to your WinFax directory (for
  50.      example, C:\WINFAX).
  51.  
  52. 2.   Run the patch program from your WinFax directory using
  53.      WINFAX.RTP, for example,
  54.  
  55.           C:\WINFAX>PATCH /V /I WINFAX.RTP
  56.  
  57.      where, /V (VERBOSE)       displays all messages during patch
  58.                                execution.
  59.  
  60.             /I (IGNOREMISSING) ignores missing files and continues
  61.                                the patch process; this is useful if
  62.                                you get EPT (File not Found) errors
  63.                                during patch execution.
